No matter how you look at it, a clear and clean skin is a bare essential this summer.  You are going to show a lot of it at the pool, on the streets and in the malls.  The hot weather means that it is fashionable to be almost naked.

TotallyMyStyle.com also knows that fashion accessories look great on anybody but it looks far greater on flawless skin.  So how do you take care of your skin? Here are some tips.

1. Exfoliate dead skin cells.  Your body regenerates skin cells every minute of the day.  Dead skin cells makes your skin look dry and dull.  Before you even moisturize, try to get a face and body scrub first.  You could easily exfoliate in the shower, two to three times a week.

2. Moisturize your skin.  Lotions are your skin’s best friend especially in summer.  Light lotions that the skin absorbs fast would be a great choice.  Body butter is for winter, by the way.  As for lotion scents, go for fruity.  Apply lotion just after you shower, to ensure that you seal in all that moisture from the shower.

3. Nail polish to protect your nails.  Do not think that your nails would survive the hot sun unprotected.  For fingernails, choose something mute, reserving the bolder colors for your toes.  Yellows, greens, blues would be great.  To properly coat your nails, apply a clear coat first and then two applications of color polish and then top it off with another clear layer.

4. Shave! Summer is all about shorts and revealing skin.  It would be a nightmare to show off hirsute legs, so go buy a good razor for women, shaving cream and shave away.

5. Tan safely.  Because skin cancer is not fashionable in anyway, eschew tanning beds or afternoon sunbathing.  Instead go for a sunless tanner cream to give you a beautiful tan all summer long.

6. Sunscreens and sunblocks.  Remember to buy a new bottle of sunscreen.  This is because your old bottle would not work as effectively as it did last year.  Remember to slather your body with a shot glass full of suncreen for your entire body, and just about the right amount for your face.  You should reapply sunscreen or sunblock every 2 hours (or every hour to be extra safe).
