One of the emerging trends now that summer is getting closer is the sublimation dress, a lightweight sundress that has undergone dye sublimation.

Dye sublimation is a printing technique that has been used on a lot of things like coffee mugs, tiles and yes, fabric.  Unlike tie dyeing, dye sublimation leaves very bright and very vibrant colors on the textile.  Not only that, the process can create photorealistic graphics and images on the fabric.

The new summer trend, however, is similar to tie dyeing.  The fabric is creased in different ways so that each dress comes out unique.  The creases create gaps among the colors so that no two dresses are the same.

It is like wearing an abstract art, only more comfortable and perfect for summer.  Sublimation dresses and tops are available at major retailers and on Amazon.com.

So how do you pull it off?  Remember that summer is all about fighting the heat and being comfortable.

For this dress, you can experiment with flip flops or gladiator sandals, which should look good with an anklet made out of wood or corals.  And this:

The Search for the Perfect Wedding Ring for Men

Jun 21, 2010 Author: Fashionista | Filed under: Fashion, Fashion Accessories, Jewelry

Weddings usually belong to the bride.  It is her day, her event, her moment.  Everything about the “big day” is geared towards the woman.  And that is why most wedding rings have intricate and elaborate designs that would satisfy the whims of women on their wedding day.

But one should not neglect the man.  The groom will also wear a wedding ring to symbolize his eternal love and commitment for his bride.  Admittedly, however, it is very difficult for a man to find the perfect wedding ring.

For most men, his wedding ring would be one of the few items of jewelry he would have.  Aside from a watch and cuff links, that is.  Most men go through life not bothering with necklaces, earrings, bracelets and such stuff.  So it is understandable that he might not take to wearing an elaborate ring that much.

Luster Forever has come up with a line of wedding rings that men would not be ashamed to wear.

1. Sterling Silver Prong Setting CZ Wedding Ring Set.  This wedding ring set is perfect for those couples who want matching wedding rings.  The bride will surely appreciate the intricate designs and the semi-precious stones, while the groom will have a muted version.

Fashion classics are great investments.  For one, they make you feel and look good.  Imagine being in just a white tee and a comfortable pair of jeans, isn’t that just bliss?  Fashion classics save you money.  They simply never go out of style and are hot! hot! hot! season after season.  That little black dress that you bought five years ago would still look stunning — and stylish — on you today.

Another reason fashion classics are great is that they are safe.  If you do not feel confident about carrying out the latest trends in full regalia, you can always go back to the classics and just update it.  Most fashion classics are flexible enough that all you have to do is to add this accessory and that accessory, this ring or that earring, to make it more in tune with the trends.

Do not be a fashion victim and do not go broke trying to keep up with the ever-changing fashion trends, load up on these fashion must-haves!

And if clothes have their set of classics and must-haves, so do jewelry.  Here are four jewelry pieces every woman must have in her jewelry box!

Marcasite Makes for Great Jewelry

Jun 17, 2010 Author: Fashionista | Filed under: Fashion, Fashion Accessories, General, Jewelry

Marcasite is a naturally occurring mineral that are found in sedimentary rocks is mostly composed of iron and sulfur, giving it a pale yellow or off white color with black streaks.  In jewelry, however, the marcasite used is actually pyrite.  This is because real marcasite is brittle and is unsuitable for jewelry.

Pyrite looks very similar to marcasite, and even have the same chemical structure, but it is better formed.  Due to it being found in nature, pyrite has been used for jewelry since the ancient times, back to the time of Ancient Greek and pieces of marcasite jewelry have been found in Incan burial sites.  But it was only during the 18th century that marcasite jewelry gained a wide following when it was made into brooches, lockets, rings and cameos.

Marcasite is often set in silver or steel.  Marcasite jewelry are often described as vintage or antique-looking.  But what makes marcasite jewelry a top gem today is the dazzling quality it lends to pieces.  Just take a look at these marcasite pieces from Luster Forever.

The vintage look on this bracelet is perfect for classic gowns and formal events.

Marcasite also looks great in rings.   Depending on how it is set, it adds a certain degree of elegance and fab.

Although marcasite chains are rare due to its thickness, you could still wear marcasite on your neck with beautiful and bedazzling pendants like this one:

Thanks Dad!

Jun 16, 2010 Author: Fashionista | Filed under: Fashion, Fashion Accessories, General, Jewelry

He is your mom’s personal confidante and best friend.  He is your biggest fan, attending your piano recital even if he had to miss work for it. He coached your team and egged you on when you were not sure of your abilities.  He made sure the bills got paid and you went to a good school.  He was a comforting presence when you were growing up.  He made sure that the leak on the roof got fixed and the lawn was mowed.

Fathers mean a lot of things to different people.  For some, he is a bastion of stength.  For others, he is a symbol of authority.  Still for others, he is somebody who is loved, feared and respected.

And that is why people around the world celebrate Father’s Day to celebrate the first men in their lives.  Father’s Day is celebrated at various dates depending on the country but most honor their fathers with this special day on the third Sunday of June.  This year, Father’s Day is celebrated on June 20 in 52 countries including the United States.

So how do you show your appreciation to you Dad? TotallyMyStyle.com has these suggestions.

1. Think of what activities he likes and find the perfect gift.  If your dad is crazy about golf, maybe you could give him a whole new set of clubs, or perhaps that iron that he has been eyeing.  Or how about some fishing gear?

2. Spend time with him.  It could be a simple dinner at home, a fishing trip or catching his favorite team play, spend some time with your dad.  This would provide him the chance to do what he likes and both of you with a chance to bond and talk.

3. Personalized items.  Mugs, lighters, tee shirts emblazoned with “World’s Greatest Dad” might sound cheesy for you, but it will surely warm his heart.  Plus points if you create it yourself, like giving him a handcrafted chair with his name on it.

4. Help him look good.  Give him a grooming kit, or a shaving set.  Better yet, give him something that would remind him of you for a very long time.  Like this stainless steel men’s spin ring, which he could wear anywhere:

Why You Should Make Jewelry Using Beads

Jun 9, 2010 Author: Fashionista | Filed under: Fashion, Fashion Accessories, General, Jewelry

Jewelry making is a good skill to have.  If you can’t find the perfect necklace that would go with this to-die-for dress you have just bought, then make it.  Need a good and unique gift for a friend? Need some extra income? Then make jewelry.

Making beaded jewelry is a good way to start in jewelry making.  Why use beads, you ask?  Simple, because they are easy to use and thread together.  There are simply a lot of beads to choose from, you can have your pick according to the material used (glass, wood, corals, enamel, or synthetic plastic) and also you can have your beads in any color you want.

Unlike in the old times when each bead has to be knotted individually, nowadays you only have to get a good string or wire.  Then you select a few good beads and string it together.  Get a good clasp to close your bracelet or necklace and voila! you already have a great piece of jewelry in your hands.

Beads are also very flexible and adaptable.  You can easily combine beads with gemstones, precious and semi-precious stones, crystals and glass.  Or set them in  silver or gold.

Raring to go?  You creativity is your only limitation in making bead jewelry once you have the right set of tools.  But that is not really a problem, is it?  Take design inspirations from these beautiful beaded jewelry from Luster Forever.

Jewelry design is an art that is perfected by years of practice and requires an up-to-date fashion sense, an intuitive style and technical knowledge on how to put together the piece itself and materials.

Over the years, jewelry making has evolved perhaps as much as fashion itself or more.  From simple pieces, we now have more elaborate jewelry.  And this includes those that have two or more materials used in making it.

Gold and silver. For the longest time, we were told never to mix silver jewelry with gold ones.  It was tacky.  But then, that dictum was broken and we were told that it was cool, elegant even, to have both gold and silver pieces together.  We learned how to layer gold and silver necklaces, and dual toned jewelry became acceptable.

Add some little gemstone and you have a dazzling piece that is sure to make your friends blind and green with envy!

Gold and Crystals. Gold jewelry has always been expensive so to keep the price affordable, most earlier jewelers would use one precious or semi-precious stone to enhance its beauty.  Or just go with pure gold.  But then, gold and crystals could be combined.

Gemstones.  For many women, they love to wear their birthstones as a way to bring luck into their lives as well as look more beautiful.  Gemstones are beautifully set in precious metals to add to the wow factor.

Glass and other materials. As we’ve said, jewelry is highly evolving and more and more materials are being used to enhance precious stones, gems, and metals.  Take this glass and silver combination for example:
